Below are several newspaper articles related to Richard Almer Cronce and
his son Alger Frank Cronce's legal history manufacturing Moonshine while
Alger was a Dance Hall and Saloon proprietor on Clover Lakes in Dorchester, Wi.

Almer died on the train while he was in custody on his way to trial.

Olmstead, Leonard Goerlinger, and John Johnson will also have a preliminary on that date.
 CHARGES ARE MADE
These men are charged with conspiring to manufacture intoxicating liquor, to-wit beer, in the town of Mattson, Waupaca county, and with maintaining a public nuisance. Alger Cronce of Embarrass, Waupaca county, was charged with the possession and manufacture of moonshine. He waived preliminary examination and will appear in district court at Milwaukee. Another defendant is Frank Polczinski of Pulaski, Shawano county, charged with sale and possession of beer in the village of Angelica, and with maintaining a nuisance. He also waived preliminary investigation.

 — (AP) A dead man came back to Milwaukee under custody of a United States marshal. The man was Elmer Cronce, 62, of Shawano, Wis., and he died while en route to Milwaukee in the custody of W. R. Phillips, deputy United States marshal.
Unable to furnish $1,000 bail when arrested on the charge of having moonshine liquor, Cronce was being brought to Milwaukee to await trial.

Augustin Hébert & Adrienne Du Vivier

"Adrienne was born in 1626 in Corbeny, Picardy, France, a daughter of Antoine Du Vivier and Catherine Journe. In 1646, in St. Bartholemi, Paris, at the age of twenty, she married a soldier Augustin Hébert (1623 – 23 November 1653) who had just returned from Canada.  He was a son of Jean Hebert and Isabeau Troussart  of Caen, Normandy.
In 1647, their first child Jeanne was born and baptised in St. Bartholemi, Paris. At the end of the year, Adrienne, her husband and baby Jeanne sailed from La Rochelle to New France along with the founder of Montreal Paul Chomedey de Maisonneuve. They arrived at Montreal Island, in early 1648, and they settled in Montreal, which was then called Ville-Marie. Adrienne was one of the few white women in the colony apart from Jeanne Mance who had founded a hospital with a group of nuns. Early in 1649, she had another daughter, Pauline, who was the first white child baptised in Montreal. Maisonneuve stood as godfather, Jeanne Mance was godmother. The child died a few weeks later. Augustin and Adrienne were deeded a huge parcel of land on the island. Augustin was a fur-trader, merchant, farmer and master-mason.

He often traded with the Iroquois Indians. He and Adrienne had four children, of whom three reached adulthood. Adrienne and her husband were the first colonists to enroll an indentured servant otherwise known as an engagé."  (source Adrienne_Du_Vivier )

* "Tudd" is a family nickname and we are not exactly sure how to spell it. My Aunt Mary Kay thinks it could have originally been "Toots" but evolved because of thick accents.
